This is a new hotel with large rooms and luxurious touches, such as down comforters, bathrobes, lighting wherever you need it, and nightly turndown. The furnishings are comfortable, with desk and armchairs. There is even a DVD player, with movies available free of charge at the front desk. The location is great, about halfway up Nob Hill. Public transportation is very convenient, but I ended up walking everywhere. There is a good restaurant in the hotel, which also serves as a bar, but there's no real lobby space. The rate, which I got from the hotel website, was an amazing $119 per night, including a very nice continental breakfast (room tax extra). I would stay there again in a minute. My husband and I stayed at the Orchard Hotel with a group of friends in Summer 2003. It was the last stop on our California vacation. The room was a little small as were the beds. We had to smash into what seemed like a super size twin. We were splitting the room with a friend so she had one bed all to herself and was quite comfy. Even though the bed was a little small for two people (I'm sure they have rooms with Kings) - the mattress and the bedding was sublime. We slept like logs. The room decor was very clean and modern yet warm and inviting at the same time. The bathroom was quite nice. Excellent location. We really emjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
