With a great location in the historic district of Savannah, this large B&B offers lovely large rooms and parking.

We recommend the B&B Presidents' Quarters, located in the Historic District of Savannah.

The biggest plus is the location. It is an easy walk from the riverfront area, yet it is removed enough to be quiet and comfortable. In every direction there is a stroll through the beautiful old neighborhoods and squares. We had a car to park, so we really appreciated the good sized B&B parking lot. We were able to easily drive out to Tybee Island for an afternoon without fear of losing our parking spot.

Our room was huge and newly decorated in traditional Savannah style. Everything was spotless and comfortable. The furniture was lovely, the linens crisp and the bathroom deluxe. The James Monroe room is a corner room, with windows on two sides. There are nice views out both windows, of the streets and houses. Occasionally we heard the clip-clop of passing carriages. That was about it.

The breakfast was fine but because their breakfast area was so small, they couldn’t seat all of their guests at the same time. Guests were asked to choose from time slots, and were also asked to choose one of two menus ahead of time: a continental breakfast with granola and fruit, or a cooked breakfast which varied each day.

I think that a larger breakfast room would be an improvement, though I’m not sure how that could be done.

The staff was helpful and the atmosphere congenial and relaxed. A decanter of sweet wine rests on a bureau in the lobby at all times, and guests are offered a late afternoon buffet of wine and hors d’oeuvres in the lobby each day. This was very welcome and frequently led to bits of conversation between guests.

A lovely feature was the garden area, with plenty of wrought iron tables on a leafy paved patio area. This was much used and appreciated by guests.

We felt that the cost of the room was well worth it for the quality of the room and the location and convenience.

Presidents Quarters is a lovely B&B exuding lots of Southern charm. Rooms are large and comfortably furnished, rate include breakfast and parking.

We checked into the Presidents' Quarters in Savannah the day before the 2008 Gathering. I had reserved Room 202, the John Kennedy suite, a large comfortable room with balcony overlooking the courtyard filled with lots of Southern charm. We also enjoyed the room's sitting area , and the place soon felt like home.

The photos on the website give good views and descriptions of the rooms. Breakfast included a continental each morning or the choice of a hot entree.

We also enjoyed the afternoon wine and appetizers in our room as we dressed for the evening's events. There is a parking lot for guests and a nice courtyard where you could also enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine while visiting with other Slow Travelers. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We would definitely stay here again. New owners, and rooms have been renovated. With the Slow Travel Gathering discount, we paid $220 per night vs. the current rate of $270.
