This was a wonderful place to stay in downtown Charleston. It was not inexpensive, but compared to other hotels in the same area it is a great deal. We paid in the high $200s for a weekend night in April, which is PEAK season in Charleston. The decor was very charming, if a little Victorian for my tastes (flowery wallpaper). The big wide-plank hardwood floors run throughout the building. The bed was extremely comfortable, with very nice bedding. The complimentary breakfast was lovely - not a continental breakfast, but an actual sit-down meal where you order off a menu. The only downsides are what you'd expect in a historic building - the bathroom was a little dated, and the plumbing occasionally made a creaky old-house noise. But overall, it's a charming place for a romantic getaway. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
