Unpretentious Italian place with a local crowd.

Directions: This place is in Vasona Station. There seems to be a new location in downtown Los Gatos (449 N. Santa Cruz).

Four of us joined a crowd of locals at this homey place on a weekday evening. It's 80 or so seats were nearly filled at the peak. There is also an outdoor patio for a warmer evening or lunch.

Pastas were enticing. One of us chose a pasta with smoked salmon in a light cream sauce. I had delicious grilled fresh salmon with steamed veggies. Veal piccata and an Aldo's salad of greens with grilled shrimp, scallops, and salmon rounded out our choices.

The menu does not break new ground but everything was well prepared and the atmosphere and service were friendly. I'd go again.
