Slick and fun yet local and comfortable with good food to boot!

This was a very nice surprise. We were looking for something a little more casual and in some ways this was it, but in others it was the most sophisticated meal of the trip.

While they bill themselves as a simple tapas place, they have full entrees and most people (including ourselves) were eating more traditional styled meals.

I had a fish stuffed with breadcrumbs and spices and then covered in a tomato sauce that was good. It wasn't great, but it was good. My husband had a chicken with Portuguese spices that was spicy enough yet not hot or tough on his sensitive stomach. He started with a soup that he liked, and I for the life of me cannot remember what I had for a starter, but I remember that I really enjoyed it. (How helpful is that?) My nephew had a steak that at first looked underdone but was actually perfect with great taste. Dessert was a molten chocolate cake and a scoop of gelato from their gelato bar.

The only slight negative which they took care of immediately is the back room has a huge fireplace in it that was causing the room to be unbearably hot. Evidently we weren't the only ones thinking so because they immediately cut the gas to it and cooled down the room. Service was not super professional but extra friendly and actually just the right feel for the type of restaurant.

Decor was warm and inviting yet actually kind of trendy. The bar was cool and could be a great place to actually relax and eat the tapas that they have a good selection of. This would be our first choice of resturant if we returned to Ojai.
