Another very good meal in Napa. Casual food that is done the way it should be.

I was craving simple casual food and maybe a beer after a long day of wine tasting. Bistro Don Giovanni was perfect. We arrived on the early side so we were seated right away. Lucky for us, I hear this place gets mobbed every night.

All the appetizers sounded good so Jim decided to get two instead of an entree. First he starts with a very tasty salad of beets, hericotverts, avacado and fennel with a roquefort vinaigrette. Next is beef carpaccio with capers,arugula and parmigiano. Also excellent.

I ordered a personal Pizza Margherita but could not resist trying the Olive fritte appetizer. I am so glad I did because they were scrumptious. What could possibly be better than spanish olives stuffed with anchovies then breaded and fried along with some whole almonds. They were a perfect partner to my beer. My pizza was also very good. It was wood fired and reminded me of pizzas I've had in Italy.

I would love to come back sometime and try some other things off the menu but it sure would be hard it skip those fried olives.

Our bill for two peple including two drinks each was about $80.
