French Bistro/Cafe worth dining at

I ate two dinners here while in town on business for a week and I plan on eating here again on a followup trip very shortly.

Once I find a restaurant I really like while traveling on business I stick to it. I do this because I don't have to expend effort finding other restaurants, I avoid disappointments and I can get more familiar with the menu, wines, staff. Think of it as akin to slow travel. Find a place, and stay there for a week and get to know it.

Both nights we arrived too late for the Rhone Valley prix fixe. So we ordered from the menu.

I did not particularly like the escargot I had the first night. It was like an extracted and potent parsley and butter bake and while I can tell it was well prepared, it didn't float my palate. On the second night I had the butter lettuce salad. Very nice. Very French.

I had the pan roasted half chicken the first night and it was superb. And I had it with a K Lynch Cotes du Rhone red and it worked well. The jus and the shallots were a nice compliment to a red wine. While simple fare from a complexity point of view, the chicken was superb. My friend had the trout, and I loved that too. Second night I had the mussels for my main dish. Interesting dish. I haven't had this mussel dish before and I'd like to try to prepare it myself.

Dessert second night! I had a caramel apple tart and I licked that plate clean.

I'm not sure this restaurant would appeal to the masses. But it would to those that like a nice French cafe/bistro and I admit this is my sweet spot and I cook this type of food at home more than any other so I'm biased.

Wait staff was different each night. Both provided great service.
