Home style Mexican food. Some unusual and very tasty dishes to try. Comfortable atmosphere with many local families.

Directions: On Cerrillos, the strip-mall road that leads out of Santa Fe. On the right side of the road, past St. Muchaels Drive.

Chile en Noghada, photo by Amy

We ate here twice, and really enjoyed it. It's in the strip mall area, and seemed to be mostly filled with local families.

I liked their take on fish tacos - the fish was sauteed with tomato and onion, folded into fresh corn tortillas with avocado and cabbage for topping. The red chile sauce on dishes was complex and medium hot, very enjoyable. What I went back for again after tasting the first time was the Chiles en Nogada (I think on the menu it was spelled differently) - a dish of roasted poblano stuffed with a slightly sweet ground beef picadillo, swimming in an addictive nut sauce. One of those dishes you come home and spend time googling so you can find a recipe. The flan for dessert was firmer than usual, but nicely flavored. They have wine and beer. Cheerful service, very low prices. Open for all three meals.

Wish I could go there right now!
