Directions: On upper State street, well away from downtown Pizza Guru... yum. Yet another reason to visit Santa Barbara more often. In addition to your normal cheese pizza, they also have interesting gourmet pizzas. An Italian (or a purist) might be kind of horrified, but not me! The Euphoria has steak, garlic cream sauce, potatoes, grilled onions, mushrooms and gorgonzola on it and is,well, euphoric. I also really like the Guru Baja, which has black beans, jack cheese, green and red peppers, caramelized onion, lettuce, salsa, sour cream... well you get the idea. It sounds crazy but it is so good! The Guru special has spinach, roasted garlic, toasted hemp seeds, and Tandoori chicken or tofu plus onions and cilantro. Very good, but missing the chicken (I think our server thought we did not want it. They serve a lot of vegans and vegetarians here.) I wasn't too fond of the Bodhi's BBQ - but I think it may have been just a little too sweet for my taste. They also have tasty green salads with ingredients you don't expect in a pizzeria (candied walnuts, apples, goat cheese.) You can eat there but also pick up or have it delivered. It's not super cheap - don't expect two large pizzas for $10 a la Dominos. Expect $30 for two medium pizzas. But it is worth it. My only issue with Pizza Guru would be the wine - warm white wine is not going to do it for me, ever. But they also have beer and red wine, so stick to that.
