This brasserie just gets better and better. I keep finding new dishes to love!

Friends and I have eaten at The Left Bank three times in the past few weeks, and I wanted to update my 2008 review.

Mainly, I wanted to recommend the gnocchi! I am NOT a gnocchi fan, although I try it occasionally if it has a particularly interesting sauce, and to see if my tastes have changed. When the waiter mentioned that the special was wild mushroom and truffle gnocchi, I figured that was a sign it was time to give it another chance. :)

Well. Am I glad I did! The gnocchi was so light and airy - it melted in my mouth. That's how I'd always heard good gnocchi described, but in the past it had never lived up to that. The gnocchi at The Left Bank made me a believer! The truffle flavor was icing on the cake, so to speak. ;)

Other tasty items of note: the moules frites are plump and juicy, and the portion is large enough to share. The fries are really good; ask for aioli. I have it on good authority that their burgers always hit the spot, their French onion soup is outstanding, and their Coq au Vin is excellent.

Service is consistently good, and a meal here is a good value. The wine-by-the-glass list isn't large, but has interesting selections.

A heads up about their bottled water: $8.50 for a bottle of Badoit!! Sheesh. Now we always just get tap water, and the staff leaves a carafe on the table.
