Review 1377: Owner, Kuilima Estates Condo at Turtle Bay (#52066)

Review by AnnM from WA

2bed/2bath condo in Haliewa, Hawaii

April 18 - 21, 2005, 3 nights

This condo is located in the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu's North Shore. It is near the wonderful quaint town of Haleiwa. The North Shore is a wonderful location with many places to swim or watch the surfers.

Nearby Amenities

You could walk to the Turtle Bay Resort hotel that has a couple of restaurants, gift shops, spa and poolside bar - it's about a 1/4 mile from the Condo. If you drive, just ask for a beach pass at the gate and you can park free. The wonderful Kuilima Cove beach is adjacent to the hotel. The nearest full grocery story (Foodland) is about 15 minutes away.

The House/Apartment

The condo is located on a large property containing many other condos. However, it was very peaceful, relaxing and quiet during our stay.

There is a wonderful lanai with great outdoor furniture - perfect for morning coffee or al fresco dining. There is also a nice (not very large) pool that never had any people in it when we walked by; I think they were all at the beach!

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in excellent shape and very comfortable. The condo was clean and there was ample seating in the living/dining room. There is no air conditioning; however, the multiple ceiling fans and lovely tradewinds kept the condo very cool and comfortable.

The beds were extremely comfortable. The master bedroom had a "Sleep by Numbers" bed that we LOVED as well as air conditioning that we never turned on since it also had a ceiling fan. The master also had a bathroom with shower. The upstairs loft bedroom was very roomy with two comfortable queen sized beds as well as a vanity and seating area and yet another ceiling fan. The main bathroom had a tub and shower. There was also a stacked washer and dryer that came in very handy.

The kitchen was wonderful with all the amenities including a side-by-side fridge/freezer with in-door ice and water dispenser. Lots of kitchen utensils and tableware to use. There was also a microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. You could easily cook full meals.

Problems or Bonuses

The only problem was that we were not there long enough. We plan on staying there for our entire stay on our next trip.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Bitsy Healy at Sherman Realty was our contact person. The office is located in Haleiwa so we stopped there to pick up the keys and gate card on our way to the condo and returned them on our way out. Bitsy was great to deal with and responded to any questions that I had. I thought the price was very reasonable at $145/night for a place that could comfortabley sleep 6 people. We did have to provide a $300 security deposit that should be returned to us within 14 days.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely recommend this condo to others and plan on staying there again.

Things to do in this area

So much to do: Swim at Kuilima Cove and walk the trails along the beach. Schedule a spa visit at the Resort (a little pricey, but fun!) Enjoy the live music in the hotel lobby while looking at the ocean. Go early to watch the surfers at several nearby beaches. Eat at Romy's shrimp wagon - YUM!

In Haleiwa: Haleiwa Joe's for dinner - great seafood! Cholo's Mexican Restaurant for the fish tacos And, shave ice at Matsumoto's is a must! Relax and enjoy the beauty that is Hawaii...
