1bed/1bath cottage in Sonoma, California WhenJune 2004, 3 nights LocationCora's Cottage was a lovely place to base our first trip to the Sonoma Valley. On a residential side street just about a block from the plaza, the adorable cottage not only met, but exceeded all of our expectations. The cottage is behind the owner's home - only one apartment - and contains a spacious kitchen and living room, bedroom, and large bathroom. Off the living room are sliding glass doors that lead out onto the patio, where there are several deck chairs, a grill, and lovely gardens where you can relax (or nap) after a full day of wine tasting! We walked to dinner each night (DON'T miss the girl and the fig restaurant!!!), walked to a nearby grocery store to grab some essentials for breakfast (the only meal we really ate in the cottage, but it did have full kitchen facilities), and the owners supply plenty of maps, menus, and other brochures to help enrich your Sonoma experience! We'll definitely be back!! Nearby AmenitiesGrocery store is 5-6 blocks. Restaurants, coffee shops, downtown are all a block away! The House/ApartmentRelatively new cottage, in wonderful shape, nice and quiet. Only one rental on the property. GardenNice garden area (I believe it's shared with the owners, but we never saw them out there) with deck chairs and a grill. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasJust lovely - plenty of comfy furniture, all spotless! Bedrooms/BathroomsBathroom was quite large - just a shower stall, but it was HUGE! Bed was very comfortable, and with that great Sonoma breeze, I slept like a baby! KitchenVery usable kitchen - only really used the fridge, microwave, and toaster, but all seemed relatively new. Problems or BonusesPerhaps I went in with low expectations (Cora's Cottage doesn't seem to be very heavily advertised/promoted), or maybe I was just used to B&Bs, but this property really exceeded my expectations! We'll be back! Agency and Representatives (and price)Booked through owner - very responsive and friendly! Rates are: $120 - $200/night (depends on season and day of week) Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely!!!! Great for couples looking to get away to wine country for a few days! Things to do in this areaSome neat history around Sonoma Plaza, great spas, restaurants (try the girl and the fig!), and don't miss the Sonoma wine country!
