Review 1944: Owner, Key West on Marco Isalnd
4bed house on Marco Island, Key West, Florida
July 2005, 2 weeks
This as a wonderful waterfront home. The wrap around terraces were fabulous, as was the hammock on the bay! The home contained all the amenities and more that any family could want. It was ideally located 1 block from Tigertail beach. The location meant that it was convenient for all the things that make life easier when renting a home but quiet and private too. The area was vey upmarket; it was in a road of similar houses with a mix of holiday rentals and residents. The look of the house put me in mind of a "Gone with the wind" style of architecture and we just loved it so much that some days we were loathe to leave and go sightsee!
It would be possible to walk to the centre of Marco Island from the house in 10 mins. There was a full complement of amenities ... bank, grocery store, boutiques, video rental, even a small dinner cinema.
The house was in great shape both decoratively and maintenance wise. The main room of the home is open plan which allowed for convivial family chat. The kitchen was well equipped but as we tend to eat out was not well used by us! The rec room was a real bonus as we chilled out with a dvd rental and played pool until late many an evening when we returned from dinner. Our 3 boys loved it! And the PC with internet access went down a treat as well! The bedrooms and bathrooms were wonderful, the master bed opened out onto a lovely terrace affording a great view.
I could go on all day about the terraces! Wonderful, we spent lots of time out there reading and sipping wine, idyllic. The pool/spa were a good size and had the bonus of being right on the bay although the angle meant you were still private. There was a boat dock on the property and a lovely seat right on the waters edge which wheb combined with the hammock made a very pleasant relaxation area. Bliss!
The furniture was clean, stlyish and very comfortable.
All the amenities icluding the bathrooms were of a good specification and they were plentiful in number for the size of the house. The location of the rooms means that if you travelled as 2 families you could still maintain your privacy. There were 2 downstairs bedrooms which shared a bathroom, ideal for disabled visitors.
Lovely kitchen well equipped, and very user friendly.
Problems or Bonuses
The pitures on the website do not do the home justice, it is a very special place.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We booked through the owner but she uses an agency to oversee the day to day running of the property as she lives out of the state. We had a few hiccups with the agency re payment/email contact but when the owner was told she got them resolved instantly. We stayed here in July and thought the rental price very reasonable (especially when compared to european rental costs!) Jackie, the owner is a lovely person, very easy to deal with and genuinely cares that her guests enjoy her beautiful home.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would reccommend this rental to anybody ... but not too many as it may be booked next time we want it!!
Things to do in this area
We loved Marco Island, we rented a boat, went on fishing trips with Captain Troy and caught our first red snapper and many a catfish. Had a meal in the dinner cinema whilst watching a good movie. We ate out evey night at a different restaurant and never had a bad meal. All together a wonderful holiday made especially memorable by our lovely home from home.
