Review 2026: Kokopelli Property Management, Elegant Southwest Beauty

Review by Amy from MA who is a SlowTrav Contributor

2 bed/2bath, Santa Fe, New Mexico

April 2006, 3 days

The house is just 2 blocks from Canyon Road, the street full of galleries. Less than a mile walk to the Plaza. Like most homes in Santa Fe, it fronts the street, with a high wall between the house and street to shield from traffic noise. Houses directly surrounding the yard and patio, but still a sense of privacy.

Nearby Amenities

You can walk to restaurants, but a car makes everything much more convenient. Several grocery stores (including a Whole Foods) a short drive away.

The House/Apartment

The house is over 100 years old, and has been amazingly restored and remodeled with a mixture of traditional and contemporary features. You enter to a huge living/dining room. A new kitchen is in back, leading to a patio and small yard. To the left are two bedrooms and full baths. The whole place is just stunning, and in perfect shape. No traffic or outside noise.

A patio with chairs and tables, and a small back yard. The patio can get quite sunny and hot in the afternoon, but there's a shaded area on the grass you can move the chairs to.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture is beautiful and comfortable. Very elegant furnishings and decor. The place was spotless, and is very well cared for.

The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, set into a rather high (for this short person) frame. Lovely linens. The master has a beautiful private bathroom with a rather unique shower/tub arrangement. One end of the shower drops down to a small soaking tub. You do need to be aware of where the shower floor ends, but we didn't have any problems. The second bedroom has two nice twin beds, and an adjoining bathroom with stall shower.

Very large kitchen, with everything you could need. Since this house is used by the owners, there were paper towels, spices, good cookware, soaps, etc.

Problems or Bonuses

Just how wonderful the place was. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The website was very accurate, and gives a good sense of the properties they represent. The agent responded promptly to e-mails, and was helpful on the phone in finding places that would suit us.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. While initially I thought the price was high, it was a good value considering what two hotel rooms in Santa Fe would have cost. That it was so comfortable, spacious, and gave us a special dose of Santa Fe style was a real bonus.

Things to do in this area

Gallery-hopping, wonderful museums, shopping, great food, and interesting hiking outside of town.
