Review 2611: Two Casitas, Artist Road B
1bed/1bath apartment in Santa Fe, New Mexico
February 2005, a week
This agency rents casitas in Santa Fe. This unit is within some walking distance of the Plaza and is nicely furnished in SW style, but came with lots of problems, including poor customer service.
To begin with, we were unable to park in the designated spot because it was simply too small for our (compact/economy) rental car. We wound up having to park on the street several blocks away. We made a series of (unreturned) calls to the agency to try to work out some other parking arrangement; three hours later, an employee told us that the owner (who advertises herself as very hands-on) was unavailable and that nothing could be done.
The advertised "landscaping" and "patio" were minimal; there was no space to enjoy outside, and the few areas around the house were cluttered with stored garden furniture and other items. Several appliances in the apartment were broken or not working. The second day, we awakened to the screech of sledgehammers and power tools; in the other side of the duplex (with which this unit shares a wall/door) there was obviously construction work going on. After another series of calls, the same employee finally agreed to ask the workers to stop the next day.
After several increasingly unpleasant calls, the employee finally agreed to reduce our overall tariff by one day's rent. The hassle and waste of time involved dealing with this apartment and agency, however, was not worth it. I would never book with these people again.
