Travel slowly, staying in vacation rentals (villas, farms, cottages, apartments)
Review 2713: Owner, 919 Joy Circle, Marco Island, Florida
4bed/3bath house on Marco Island, Florida
March 10 - 17, 2007, 1 week
The house was on the waterway, on a side street but very close to a major thoroughfare on Marco Island. Not near the beach.
In theory you could walk to a place for coffee or groceries, but you would have to travel across very busy and congested streets and it was not an attractive stroll.
The house was in fair shape.
The garden was small but nice.
Furnishings were OK.
The master bedroom bed was good, the others OK to cot-like.
The kitchen was older, but OK. Lots of broken shelves.
Problems or Bonuses
The owners stopped all communication once they received our payment. They didn't answer phone calls, return messages or emails. They have not returned our $500 deposit, and we left the house spotless. The hot tub did not work, and there was no canoe (as advertised). The "shuffle board court" was a side walkway.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The owners, Jackie and Matt, have been miserable to deal with. This was an expensive rental: $2,530 for the week, PLUS the $500 deposit which was supposed to be returned to us, but has not been.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We have had great experiences with VRBO houses. This was by far our worse most frustrating experience. I would advise everyone to stay far away from this rental!
Things to do in this area
The beach is great, but you have to drive there from the house. Renting a pontoon boat at the river marina for the day was great fun.
