I rented this beautiful condo along with two other Slow Travelers (teaberry and bugalu) when we met up in Palm Desert for a long weekend and a very special Slow Travel get-together. We were really glad we had pursued a vacation rental, as we had much more room (1556 square feet) than if we had shared a hotel room for an extremely economical price ($150 night or $50/person/night).

The condo is located in the gated community of the Palm Valley Country Club, which is a very central and convenient location in Palm Desert. The community is quite extensive and includes two golf courses, a large tennis complex, a community center with many amenities, and 40+ swimming pool/hot tub areas that each serve a cluster of homes. The neighborhood is very attractively landscaped and maintained. The owner of our condo did arrange special guest passes for us to use the facilities, but we didn't end up doing anything at the country club. I'd like to return another time just to enjoy the relaxing environment, with views of the mountains in the distance.

The condo is all on one level and is beautifully decorated to a high standard. It includes a comfortable living room with seating for six people and a fireplace, a dining area, a fully-equipped kitchen with a breakfast area, a master suite with a huge closet/bathroom area, a guest suite, and a separate den with television and other electronics. The couch in the den folds out to make a comfortable bed, thus creating a third bedroom, though there is not a door to this room or a dedicated bathroom. There's also a two-car garage and a washer and dryer in a utility hallway. Everything seems brand new. The place is very clean.

The terrace is in the back of the condo, off the kitchen, and is right on the golf course. The photo above was taken from the terrace. There's a table and chairs and two chaise lounges on the terrace as well as a built-in barbecue.

This is the owners' second home (not a place that's only rented out), so there are many extra touches. We especially liked being able to use the golf cart in the garage and spent an hour one morning driving around the neighborhood. There are groceries in the cabinets, some personal photos, and even some (not many) clothes in the closets. This wasn't a problem for us, but I wanted to point this out for others. There is wireless Internet (bring your own laptop), though we weren't able to get it working during our stay.

The owner was great to deal with in the process of booking this condo. She went to extra effort to tell us everything we needed to know. We had the number of the local housekeeper if we had any questions. She also owns another slightly smaller condo (two story, without a den) in Palm Valley Country Club. There is a three night minimum for both rentals in the low season; a one week minimum in the high season.

I would definitely book here again, in fact, I'm only posting this review with the understanding that I get first dibs on this place for the next Palm Desert GTG! I also think this would be a great place to spend a week or more and enjoy the beautiful desert surroundings, the many wonderful restaurants, and sports facilities. Palm Desert is definitely a golfers' paradise. It was also a super place for a getaway weekend with two women friends!
