Review 3438: Savannah Getaways, Washington Square Townhouse

Review by MarciaB from US who is a SlowTrav Contributor

3bed/2bath house in Savannah, Georgia

April 2-5, 2008, 3 days

We rented this townhouse with three other Slow Travelers for the Savannah GTG weekend. It was a perfect location as we could walk almost everywhere, and we were close to other ST groups. The townhouse faced Washington Square. I would go back and rent this place again if we ever get the chance to return to Savannah.

Nearby Amenities

We could walk to coffee shops and restaurants, but drove to the grocery store.

The House/Apartment

This was clearly a historical building and in very good shape, luxuriously decorated and well maintained. On two floors, the first floor had a bedroom, kitchen and living room area, as well as a small parlor. There was garden access through the bedroom on this floor. Upstairs there were two bedrooms, one larger than the other, and a master bath/jacuzzi suite, plus a small laundry room with washer/dryer combo.

You can view the property directly: Washington Square Townhouse.

There was a small private garden area to the side of the house.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in good shape, and all pieces were upscale, including the high four poster beds. We arrived before the house was clean, and one of us had a few issues with some dusty areas downstairs and in the bathroom, but overall I think that the house was well-cleaned. Plenty of chairs, and a generous supply of dishes and wine glasses.

The beds were very comfortable and bedrooms lovingly furnished with antique furniture and window treatments. The two bathrooms were more than adequate for five people. Once we figured out how to reset the hot water heater, we had more than enough hot water.

It was a very usable kitchen, with a good open floor plan. We did not need to cook a full meal and so it was more than good for our breakfasts, and impromptu wine and cheese snacks.

Problems or Bonuses

It did take us awhile to find the upstairs A/C register.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

I was the person who negotiated with the agency and found them very easy to work with, mostly via e-mail and the occasional phone call.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would most definitely stay here again.
