3bed/2bath apartment near Clearwater Beach, Florida WhenMarch 7-15 2008, 8 days LocationArea was Indian Shores. Great location. Wonderful restaurants, and right on the beach. Nearby AmenitiesOnly five minute drive to grocery stores and Clearwater Beach. The House/ApartmentThe building looked very run down but was under construction. The condo was not very quiet as it is by a busy road. There were other condos in the building and were told when we left that they were in much better shape than this one we stayed at. You can view the property directly: Easy Breezy. GardenThere was no pool but you did not need one being right on the beach. Deck was nice to sit on and there was a lounging area on the main floor by the carport. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasDecorated okay. Bedrooms/BathroomsSize of unit was good for us. We were there with five small children. KitchenKitchen was dirty as was the rest of the place. We have been renting other places for many years and this was the first time we felt we had to wash the dishes/cooking utensils before we used them. We also had to clean the entire place especially the bathrooms. Problems or BonusesOur surprises were how run down the unit was. How long it took for the owner to respond to our query when we thought there was a leak. We called on Wednesday and did not hear from her until Saturday. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner was very nice when we rented. Absolutely wonderful and very welcoming. It wasn't until we were long gone that we had the problems. She withheld part of the damage deposit because when we were concerned there was a leak in the master bath, she charged us to have a service person come out to look at it. It seems she also charged us for other repairs (i.e., a seal that had to be replaced on the toilet). That is normal wear and tear but we got charged for it. I think because we are from so far away, she figured we could do nothing about it ... and really we can't. She told us there was no leak found, yet repairs had to be done. It also seemed to us that repairs had been done many times in the past. We were concerned about damage and we were just concerned about her place. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would absolutely never, never stay there again or deal with the owner on future rentals. Things to do in this areaWe went to enjoy the beach, so that is about all we did. John's Pass was lovely and a great way to spend the day.
