1bed/1bath apartment in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania WhenApril 2008, 2 nights LocationShadyside Inn owns three apartment buildings in the Shadyside section of Pittsburgh. It's a nice neighborhood of well-cared for apartment buildings and homes. Close by are restaurants and shopping; and it's very convenient for Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh right down the street. They offer free on-site parking. Nearby AmenitiesYou can walk to Walnut Street, Shadyside's main commercial street. There are bus lines on Fifth Ave that take you all over Pittsburgh. The House/ApartmentThe building we stayed at was across the street from the main building on Fifth Ave. It's a brick apartment building that has been renovated. Fifth Ave is a busy street, so you may want to request an apartment at the back. There are apartments of various sizes -- from studios to two bedrooms. GardenNo outside area. Our apartment faced onto a paved courtyard that just looked into other windows of the building. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was new and of excellent quality. The apartment had carpeting, tasteful furnishings, and was spotless. Our one-bedroom apartment had a sofa and love-seat in the living room, a table for four near the kitchen, and a large bedroom. The sofa is not a pullout, but the staff will deliver a cot for someone using the living room to sleep in. There were air conditioning units in the bedroom and living room windows, which were needed when the temps were in the mid 70's. I suspect the building may get hot in the summer. Bedrooms/BathroomsBed was very comfortable, and the bedroom was quite large. Plenty of storage space for long stays. The bathroom wasn't new, but fixtures well well cared for and in good shape. KitchenThe kitchen was small, but certainly usable for full cooking. There were a few pots and pans, and dishware for four. Problems or BonusesThis was a lovely place to stay, the comforts of a nice apartment in a lovely area of the city, yet the services of a hotel. Great for families wanting more space than in a hotel. Agency and Representatives (and price)Very pleasant and professional staff. The photos on the website give a good representation; it really is just as nice! Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I'd heartily recommend the place! Things to do in this areaWalnut street has nice restaurants and shops.
