The Washington Square House is located in the Historic District of Savannah, and just off the beautiful and leafy Washington Square. It is a quiet area, residential, and in the middle of a neighborhood of lovingly restored homes.

Nearby Amenities

The house is located just two blocks from River Street, where there are unlimited shops, cafes and restaurants, but we picked up our groceries by car.

The House/Apartment

This home was built circa late 1700s, early 1800s, and has recently undergone an award-winning restoration. All amenities are modern and up to date. On the first floor is a front porch, center hallway, formal living room and dining room, sun room, kitchen, bedroom, full bath. Second floor includes three bedrooms and three full private baths. The floors are all hardwood pine, and the rooms are all adorned with intricate crown moldings, antique furniture, high ceilings, artwork, and period decor.

You can view the property directly: Washington Square House.

The kitchen and the sun room open onto a beautiful, private courtyard with seating and a fountain. This courtyard is shared with the two bedroom carriage house on the property that can accommodate up to six people, bringing the total accommodations up to 16 people. The garden in the courtyard area is nicely manicured.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furnishings are elegant yet accessible. There is ample seating, and everything was clean and spotless. There is much attention to period detail.

The bedrooms are roomy and inviting and luxuriously decorated. Mattresses are top-notch comfortable, including the pillows. The sheets are high thread count, and the bed linens are all top-of-the-line. There are ample extra pillows and blankets, too, if needed. The bathrooms are posh, with beautiful fixtures and hardware, great water pressure. There could have been some extra towels, perhaps.

The kitchen is state-of-the-art, lots of counter space, granite counter tops with island with sink, dishwasher, large refrigerator and even a washer/dryer. Everything is quite clean and spotless, and the cabinets are well-stocked with flatware, dishes, pots/pans, serving pieces.

Problems or Bonuses

Wireless Internet access is offered for an extra $5 per day, which seems a little strange to add that fee on. There is garage parking for one car, which is a plus. The couch in the living room (parlor) is actually a trundle bed. The Carriage House, part of the property, can actually be rented separately, for smaller parties.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner was very easy to deal with, no problems or surprises. The photos truly represent how nice this house is; in fact, it's even lovelier to see in person.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes, unequivocally. Highly recommend.
