Review 3823: Owner, Willow Creek Cabin
3bed/2bath cabin in Vail, Colorado
late Sept/early Oct. 2008, 1 week
This house is on the west edge of West Vail, just off the South Frontage Rd. It is right on Gore Creek, which makes a relaxing sound as it flows over rocks next to the deck. You can fish right there. This is a great asset to the house. The expressway is close, as it is everywhere in Vail, but you can ignore that ... or not.
Frequent and FREE local bus service is maybe a half block away. This bus can take you anywhere in the Vail area easily. Large grocery stores are a mile or two away.
This house is beautifully decorated, with huge amounts of storage and all of the conveniences. The kitchen is well equipped with an upscale stove. The bedrooms are large. Skiers would appreciate the big open tiled entryway - perfect for snow gear and equipment, and wet boots and coats. There is a large wall mounted flat screen TV, and a lot of media options. A huge dining area overlooks the creek, with nice views. Everything is as nice, if not better, than pictured on the websites.
The deck, on the creek, is huge. It has lots of seating and a nice big hot tub. The yard is full of perennials - lots and lots of flowers - and some nice clusters of aspen trees and evergreens.
All furniture was stylish, in excellent condition, and comfortable. There is plenty of room for a crowd of people, yet it feels cozy.
All three bedrooms were good sized and had queen sized beds - four such beds in all. Two bedrooms are on the lower level. One of those is huge, with two beds. The master bathroom was quite large and nice. The downstairs bathroom, shared by the two lower level bedrooms, was small, with a shower. There were nice linens and plenty of extra pillows and blankets.
A full sized washer and dryer were available.
The kitchen stove is a real hit with all the guests, as its frequently mentioned in the guest book. Everything is fairly new and of good quality. We did cook, and we lacked for nothing.
Problems or Bonuses
If you were expecting to be out in the open with extensive views - NO. You're wedged into a valley with an expressway - that's just the way it is in Vail. However, the views of the brilliant yellow aspens on the mountainside were fabulous - we were lucky to be there during peak fall color.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Our friend, a relative of the owner, booked this house. The house is generally $275 a night during the period we were there - late Sept/early Oct. The sites indicate that it is more costly during the winter ski season, as expected. We found it to be a great value, especially if you had a lot of people.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would recommend this house to anyone wanting a place in Vail.
