2bed/1bath house on outskirts of Tucson, Arizona
December 2000, 10 days
We spent 10 nights in this lovely house on the edge of Tucson in December 2000 (and we plan to return frequently). The house is in the north west section of Tucson, on the edge of the Saguaro National Park. The house is an old adobe ranch house from the 1950s that was beautifully remodeled recently. The floors are all tile, the furniture is beautiful and comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped, the bedrooms are wonderful. This is a very romantic and private get-away.
There is a huge covered porch on the front of the house and a beautiful patio with a hot tub at the back. From the house all you see is desert and mountains. There is another house on the same 3 acre lot, but you don't really see it. The area is peaceful and quiet. You are on a dirt road that only goes to a couple more houses after this house - so no traffic noise.
You can walk from the house, down a dirt road, right onto a trial in the National Park. We did several long walks from the house. Or you can drive to many good hiking area around Tucson.
Melanie, who manages the house, is right across the road. She can tell you everything you need to know about the area. When we were there, she hung bird feeders in the trees and within minutes the yard was full of birds. We just loved this place. In December it was bright and sunny with daytime temperatures in the high 60s and low 70s. It gets cold at night, but the house has a good furnace.
