5bed/5.5bath house near Park City, Utah When2/11/10 - 2/15/10, 4 nights LocationThis rental is situated between Park City and Deer Valley. It is a very favorable location for what we were looking for, which was a multi-family ski vacation rental. The house was situated similarly to other rentals we have stayed in in the area on previous visits, no more and no less private, no more and no less convenient to the local attractions. We really like the area in general, which is why we have returned for the last four years. Nearby AmenitiesDuring the summer, this location would be considered within walking distance to Main St Park City. But during the winter, driving is required to all locales. The House/ApartmentThe house is a multi-story design with plenty of space to spread out for our families. There is quite a bit of deferred maintenance that needs to be done. There are slats in shades missing, broken furniture, smoke damage in the main room from the fireplace. The carpets were very soiled and there was quite a bit of dust on many of the surfaces that were visible. GardenSince this was a winter rental, we did not access the outdoor areas much. The deck areas were spacious with very nice views and the hot tub was in a convenient location but was not private at all. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe listing states that the furnishings are luxurious, but they were far from the case. Bedding was scratchy, pillows were less than adequate, there was minimal furnishings in the bedroom (no side chairs or dressers for clothes). The main living room had two small couches and a broken arm chair to accommodate five bedrooms worth of people in front of the fireplace and TV. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds were not very supportive and felt very spongy, as did the pillows. The bedding was adequate, no better. The bathrooms were nice and plentiful, but the amenities provided were minimal (a small bar of soap and shampoo good for two showers. There were not enough towels for everyone for showers when some were used for hot tub use. KitchenThe kitchen was well laid out with plenty of space to move around. The appliances were nice and in good shape. There were plenty of eating utensils and plates/bowls, but the cooking ware was minimal for cooking full meals. Problems or BonusesThere was blood on the light switch in one of the bathrooms. Agency and Representatives (and price)We booked with the owner and that process was OK. The reality did not reflect the advertisement in most ways, other than hard stats. The rental was more expensive per night than our previous year's rentals that were of comparable size and presented better than advertised. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? No. Things to do in this areaSkiing at Deer Valley, The Canyons and Alta was wonderful. There are too many restaurants in Park City to mention and the shopping is upscale and worth the effort. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
