Review 4999: Owner, Classic Cottage in the Village (#253717)
2bed/2bath house in La Jolla, California
March 18, 6 weeks but left after 1 night
La Jolla, CA is an upscale beach town in southern California. House was located in the Village of La Jolla within walking distance of restaurants and shops.
The house was old and described online as charming.
It had a nice outdoor sitting area but due to the proximity to a busy street it was very noisy.
The house was not clean. There was mold, mildew and a strong odor of cat urine. The drawers in the bureau were unusable due to debris and dirt in them. The furniture was dirty and in some cases falling apart.
The bed was comfortable but because the heating system was very old and above the master, it was very noisy. Actually sounded like a train coming through the house.
Problems or Bonuses
We left the house after one night because of the mold and smell issues. We were very disappointed and asked for at least a partial refund. To this date we have not received it. We paid for six weeks for nothing.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We paid $7000 for six weeks.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Obviously we did not stay there and would not recommend it. Unfortunately you can't smell the photos you see online.
Things to do in this area
After renting another house we did go to some great restaurants such as: George's, Nine-Ten, Piatti, and Barberella's.
