Travel slowly, staying in vacation rentals (villas, farms, cottages, apartments)
Review 5244: Owner, Kuuhale Hale (#296944)
Studio apartment near Kailua Beach, Oahu, Hawaii
November 2011, 5 nights
This apartment is located in a residential area. The apartment is above the owner's garage. It was a quiet area and we never heard the owners.
You could walk to the beach or town. We found it easier to drive, and were close to lots of restaurants and grocery stores.
The apartment is in perfect shape. It is a 600 square foot studio apartment. There is a very comfortable king size bed. There's a large bathroom with a separate shower and large soaking tub. Amenities like soap, toilet paper, Kleenex are all provided. The kitchen has a two-burner stove top, a microwave, and full-size refrigerator. There is also a washer/dryer.
There is a nice-sized lanai with two chairs that we sat out on every evening. You cannot see the beach from the house but it faces the neighborhood. The owner's have a pool in the back yard but it is not for guest use.
Everything looked very new and in perfect shape. The apartment was perfectly clean. Even though this was a studio, it felt very large.
The bed was very comfortable and extra pillows and blankets were provided. The bathroom was very large.
The kitchen had everything you would need to cook a full meal. There is a cook-top only, not an oven, but that wasn't missed at all. There is a microwave and toaster also. There were good knives, cutting boards, plenty of plates, bowls, glasses, etc.
Problems or Bonuses
The place felt larger than I expected it too. Very open.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
I booked on line through VRBO and the owner contacted me immediately. The owner emailed instructions on how to enter the apartment when we got there, and we met them the next morning. They were very helpful. The rental is a great value at $125/night. There is a $75 cleaning fee.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would absolutely stay there again if I chose to stay on this part of the island. I think it was a very good price and I appreciated how clean the property was.
Things to do in this area
We were only in Hawaii for five days, so it was a very short trip. The whether was rather windy and cloudy while we were there, especially on this side of the island. The location made it easy to drive to Honolulu or up to the north shore.
