Studio apartment in Santa Monica, California

Patio of Santa Monica rental, photo by BJ Firestone

When

January, 2013, 7 days

Location

The location of this rental was great. It is in the northern part of Santa Monica close to Brentwood. The neighborhood is very peaceful and felt very safe to us. The apartment is a studio guest house behind a larger house. There is no contact between the larger house and the studio. There is a totally private entrance off the alley and rental includes two parking places right next to the private entrance. We loved the area.

Nearby Amenities

You could easily walk or drive for groceries, coffee, dinner, etc. depending on how far you wished to walk. My husband took a walk every morning and brought back great pastries from a large variety of places. There are several groceries a very short drive away or a medium walk away. There are laundries an easy drive away, both drop off and self wash.

The House/Apartment

The apartment was in wonderful shape. You enter through a private entrance into a garden and then into the house. There is a small dining area, a fully equipped kitchenette and a large bedroom. There is a stunning bathroom attached to the bedroom. There is a second completely private patio with lush greenery. It is the only rental.

Garden

There was a totally private patio. I wish the rain and chill had not been there (what can you expect in January) so we could have used it more.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in great shape. It is a studio so there was not a lot of extra room but was totally fine for one or two people. There was great WiFi and DirecTV.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom has a breathtaking view to the first outside private patio. The shower was an amazing rain shower head with plenty of water pressure.

Kitchen

The kitchen was very well equipped for a studio kitchenette. There is no dishwasher or washing machine. We never cooked a full meal but did reheat leftovers from restaurants. I think you could easily cook a full meal and there were lots of cooking supplies (oils, spices, etc.) in the cabinet. There was an excellent coffee machine and good coffee was supplied.

Problems or Bonuses

The biggest surprise was how much storage room we had in a studio apartment.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Tina was great and very easy to work with. Our keys were available when we arrived and she let us know when the gardener and another workman were coming over so we had no surprise visitors. The notebook she left for renters was invaluable.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Absolutely we would recommend it and would ourselves rent it again. It is a studio and probably no more than two people could be comfortable in it.

Things to do in this area

There is all of Los Angeles a drive away. We lived in Santa Monica in the early 1970s and love this area of the LA basin. So much to do, so little time to do it.
