Location

Though Carnegie Hill was kind of out of the way, several bus and subway lines are in close proximity which made this location more accessible than we had thought. The apartment that leads to the street is quite noisy. The ones in the back are much more quiet.

Nearby Amenities

Grocery stores a few blocks away. Hanratty restaurant (next door) is worth trying.

The House/Apartment

The apartments were comfortable and decently appointed. There are no elevators which was not a problem for us. There were 3 apartments per floor.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furnishing in good condition. Apartment was clean.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Beds and bathroom OK. Nothing special.

Kitchen

Kitchen had everything you need. Quality of utensils was not extraodinary but usable.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We did have problems with Oxbridge properties though and I wanted to warn everyone about this unscrupulous company.

We rented from them 2 apartments for 1 week at the end of April. We reserved and paid IN FULL 5 months in advance (a mistake we now realize...). The day before we left, they called us because that they had overbooked one apartment and told us we would not have one of the apartments for the first and last day of our stay and therefore would have to move twice. This most inconvenient expecially for my elderly parents.

They agreed, on that day, to compensate us by $400 for their mistake and our inconvenience. They have not reimbursed us and have ignored every message we sent (email, phone, fax).

They also claim to be members of the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau which is not true.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

The apartment themselves were OK and as advertised but because of these practices I would strongly recommend you avoid them. I would also recommend the owners of this site remove them from the recommended agencies list and move them to a Not recommended list.
